Europa League: Swansea join Spurs in next round

Michael Laudrup’s Swansea progressed despite losing.

Swansea joined Tottenham in the next round of the Europa League despite losing 1-0 to St. Gallen.

Playing in bad fog, Swansea needed a draw against the Swiss side to secure qualification but their former points total was enough to see them through.

Tottenham, already sure of their presence in the next round, beat Anzhi Makhachkala. Roberto Soldado scored his first Spurs hat-trick in the 3-0 victory.

Newly appointed Wigan manager Uwe Rosler couldn’t save the Lactics from failing to reach the next round as the ex-Brentford boss saw the Championship outfit lose 2-1 to Maribor.

The draw for the last 16 will be held on Monday.
